CCR POST 4
GOLF! still mixing the two and creating a tutorial!
script
In the beginning of the school year when I first started in aice media, that’s when we first began to learn the technique needed to complete this component
We learnt that every filming decision has an effect, therefore you must use the right ones to create the desired effect.
Filters
For the scenes in which we can see the abuse occurring between Ricky who is played by Ricardo Rodrigues and Scarlett who is played by Camila Moreno, I put a black and white filter to emphasize the idea that love hope, happiness and all things good have been stripped away. Also for the scenes of them being loving, I put a dreamy filter over it to make the memory almost seem hazy, like she can’t remember the last time they were like that.
We also used specific angles to create the desired effect like low angles to create a sense of intimidation, close ups to show intimacy, and establishing shots to establish the context of the movie which are all techniques I learned earlier this year but perfected and put into action in this project.
Freeze
Take your time with it
In golf, you need to take your time and breathe, tensing up will cost you the perfect shot. In filming, I too realized that it is important to have breaks , we used two kinds.
The scenes of the car
We added freezes to the begging of the car crash scene to create the idea that she shouldn’t have been in the car due to all the things that have happened leading up to that point that she is suddenly realizing is bad, the second kind of break was a black screen. After the crash occurred, there was a black screen which emphasized the sounds of the amblujeces, police and hospital room to show the gravity of the situation.
In the begging of the editing process I didn’t realize there was a need for these breaks that create suspense and drive the narrative, and my original film left them out but after adding them in I realized the significance of them.
Earlier this year we were tasked with creating a sound piece that depicted a story which helped me understand how important is was but this project really tested my skills. I recorded many scripted lines my parents were kind enough to read and mixed them all together to create a recording of many conflicting voices to add to the beginning edit of scenes to build up the suspense and drama.
